Biography

Studied at the University of Natal completing B.Med.Sci, B.Med.Sci (Hons) and an M.Med.Sci (Anatomical Pathology). Masters degree, supervised by Prof D Govender, was a molecular and immunohistochemical investigation of cell adhesion molecules in a cohort of 140 nephroblastomas. Joined the Medical Research Council (MRC) in May 2004 as a Research Intern based at the Centre for Molecular and Cellular Biology, Department of Medical Biochemistry, University of Stellenbosch. Embarked on a PhD in 2005, supervised by Prof JC Moolman-Smook, investigating the N-terminal interactors of cardiac myosin-binding protein C (cMyBPC) under various phosphorylation conditions. Graduated December 2008 with a PhD and joined the Department of Anatomical Pathology as a scientist in February 2009.
