Research Intrest

We are interested in studying the optical properties of atoms and molecules. Presently, we are preparing rare earth doped glasses and phosphors and studying their optical properties. The rare earth doped glasses are prepared by melt quench or sol gel method. We study their absorption, fluorescence, upconversion, down conversion, lasing efficiency, quantum yield, energy transfer etc.. And also studying the possibilities that how these glasses can be used to prepare eye safety Goggles, Temperature sensor, Display devices, Lasing material etc. The rare earth doped phosphors are prepared by combustion method. We characterize SEM, TEM, XRD, FTIR, UV-Visible absorption spectrum, Fluorescence spectrum etc. of the prepared samples. In this preparation technique, the nano sized particles are observed. The optical properties of nano phosphors are quite different from their bulk form. We are searching the phosphors which are applicable in Bio-Imaging material, CRT displays and mercury free fluorescent lights .We are mainly concerned with optical properties of phosphors.
