Biography

Allen F. Sanborn, PhD (University of Illinois at Urbana - Champaign), is studying the mechanisms that permit habitat utilization and communication in insects of the superfamily Cicadoidea. The studies investigate the thermal adaptation, temperature regulation, endothermy, ecology, behavior, taxonomy, systematics, morphology, and acoustic biology to understand cicada biology. Dr. Sanborn has a broad interest in comparative physiology and adaptations to particular environments.

Research Intrest

Ecology, behavior, and acoustic biology of cicadas. Taxonomy, systematics, and morphology of cicadas.
