Dr Allan is an academic visiting professor at the Butler University. He was an Assistant Head, University of Tennessee, Associate Professor, University of Tennessee, Audiologist, Audiology Associates, Seattle, Washington, Speech Clinician, Meadow-wood Springs Speech and Hearing Camp, Full Professor, Department of Otolaryngology, Head & Neck Surgery at Indiana University School of Medicine and a Professor Emeritus at Indiana University School of Medicine. He has been an important member at many different Societies such as the Alexander Graham Bell Association for the Deaf, American Academy of Audiology American Auditory Society, American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA), Indiana Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ISHA), Society for Ear, Nose, and Throat Advances in Children (SENTAC), Southern Audiological Society, Academy of Rehabilitative Audiology, Self Help For Hard of Hearing People (SHHH), Scott Haug Foundation and the Auditory-Verbal International.
