Dr. Abraham worked as a biomedical engineer for several years before pursuing a career in epidemiology and public health. She recieved her Masters degree in Biostatistics in 2005 and her Doctoral degree in Epidemiology in 2008 from Johns Hopkins University. Dr. Abraham has been on the faculty of the Department of Epidemiology at Johns Hopkins since 2008 and works with the Statistics in Epidemiology group to develop novel methodologic approaches with primary applications in HIV research and chronic kidney disease. Dr. Abraham works primarily with the data coordinating centers for four large prospective cohort studies housed in the Statistics in Epidemiology group. Her work with the Chronic Kidney Disease in Children (CKiD) Study involves validation and development as well as investigating novel hypotheses related to the progression of Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD). Some of this work has been translated to the context of HIV, where CKD and other comorbidities are of primary interest in the modern therapy era as HIV-infected individuals are living fuller lives. Dr. Abraham has worked with the Multicenter AIDS Cohort Study (MACS), the North American AIDS Cohorts Collaboration on Research and Design(NA-ACCORD)and the Women's Interagency HIV study (WIHS) to study the impact of HIV infection and antiretroviral medication use on the risk of age-related chronic disease in HIV-infected populations.
