Biography

Alfred Haupt du Plessis is a lecturer and coordinator of the BEd (Hons) (Educational Psychology) programme in the Department of Educational Psychology. He is currently busy with his PhD in Educational Psychology, focusing on the role of hope intervention with Total Knee Replacement (TKR) patients. In line with this focus, his research interests centre on psycho-educational hope driven interventions to overcome trauma and adversities in pursuit of wellness, positive psychological intervention in youth, and the effects of psycho-education as a preventative measure for pathology. Since 2009, Mister du Plessis has been involved with therapeutic counselling within a private hospital environment. In further support of his interest in the field of health psychology, he has completed specialised courses in Advanced adventure leadership, Advanced intensive hypno-analysis, Gestalt therapy, Special concessions and amanuensis, Professional ethics, and Family relations and creative parenting skills.

Research Intrest
