Biography

Dr. Alfonso Martínez Taboas is Professor, Psychologist Consultant of the Epilepsy Society at Carlos Albizu University. He is a specialist in psychological trauma and dissociative disorders. He has received 9 national and international awards, including: Distinguished Psychologist of the Year Award, Lifetime Achievement Award, Pierre Janet Writing Award, Rubén Ardila Award for Excellence in Research and Fellow of the International Society for the Study of Dissociation. Also, in 2007 he was President of the Association of Psychology of Puerto Rico. He has highlighted writing or co-editing 6 books, including Theory and Practice of Psychotherapy in Puerto Rico. He has written more than 160 professional articles on dissociative disorders, epilepsy, psychopathology, post traumatic stress, LGBT, atheism and evidence-based practices.
