Alexandre Salino is Professor of the Federal University of Minas Gerais and Healer of the BHCB Herbarium (UFMG). He holds a bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences from the Paulista Júlio de Mesquita Filho State University (1989), a Master's Degree in Plant Biology from the State University of Campinas (1993) and a PhD in Plant Biology from the State University of Campinas (2000). He has experience in Botany, with emphasis on Systematics and Ecology of Pteridophytes, working mainly on the taxonomic revision of neotropical groups, molecular phylogeny, floristic surveys in several vegetation formations in the Cerrado and Atlantic Forest domains and biogeography and conservation of pteridophytes in Brazil . Currently he is conducting projects of molecular phylogeny and taxonomic revisions in Thelypteridaceae, Ctenitis (Dryopteridaceae), Microgramma? Pleopeltis (Polypodiaceae), Selaginellaceae, Tectaria (Tectariaceae) and Blechnaceae; floristic and biogeography of pteridophytes in the states of Minas Gerais and Espírito Santo. He is currently directing theses, dissertations and scientific initiation works, as well as supervising postdoctoral studies in the area of ​​Systematics and Biogeography of Pteridophytes.
