Dr. Gholam joined the AUD community in August 2015 as Assistant Professor in the School of Education. He began his career as an Elementary Homeroom teacher. As a PYP instructor at International College (I.C.). Dr. Gholam was quite familiar with the essential components that create an authentic, rigorous, and inquiry-based classroom: 21st Century learning skills, higher-level thinking skills, interdisciplinary connections, student centered performance tasks that engage learners in applying concepts and skills to the real world, ongoing assessments to gauge student understanding, research-based effective teaching strategies, embedded use of resources and multimedia, and differentiation. He has designed and presented workshops related to research-based effective teaching strategies and Bloom’s Taxonomy. He also designed and implemented a rigorous and authentic Science curriculum that addressed the 21st Century learning and higher-level thinking skills: curiosity, imagination, discovery, collaboration, research, presentation, interpretation, analysis, evaluation, and reflection. Dr. Gholam has conducted research on issues related to attachment styles and interpersonal relationships and teacher evaluation systems in the Middle East. When not teaching, he likes to read, write, and travel the world.
