Biography

Dr. Aisha Darwish is an Assistant Professor in Restoration of Architecture at CAD, RUW.   She is a Syrian architect and a holder of PhD in Restoration of Architecture from La Sapienza University of Rome, Department of History, Representation and Restoration of Architecture. Dr. Darwish is a member of the Roster of Experts collaborating with the UNESCO project "Emergency Safeguarding of the Syrian Cultural Heritage Project". After gaining her Bachelor of Architecture in 2000 from Damascus University, she did a Diploma of Higher Studies and then a Master of Architectural Design at the same university. In 2005, she obtained her second Master in Restoration and Rehabilitation of Historic Monuments and Sites from Damascus University in collaboration with Ecole de Chaillot- Paris. From 2001 to 2013 she worked as a teaching assistant at the Faculties of Architecture in both Damascus University and the Arab International University, Syria.  She was a scholar at the International Cultural Center of Krakow-Poland in 2014, and of the EU Erasmus Mundus project for her PhD completed in 2017. As an expert in conservation of architectural heritage, she contributed to many events related to the field as participant or invited expert.

Research Intrest

She was an Associate Researcher at the French Institute of the Near East in Damascus during the period 2005-2013, with her research field being the conservation of historic urban and architectural heritage, in which she did several training courses in Syria, Cyprus, Poland and France.
