Biography

Ahmet Duyar received his B.S. and M.S. from Bogazici University and his Ph.D., from The University of Akron, USA. He worked at Florida Atlantic University as a Professor and Chairman of Mechanical Engineering between 1978 and 1999. He was a Visiting Scholar at NASA Lewis Research Center during the summers between 1985 and 1996. His research for fault detection and diagnosis was funded by NASA, US Army, Pratt and Whitney and the State of Florida and applied for the Space Shuttle Main Engine, Helicopter Engines and Gas Turbines. Duyar received Governer's Award for Outstanding Contribution to Science and Technology in 1990. He returned to Turkey and established Artesis together with Arcelik in 1999. Artesis developed a technology for early warning of pending failures of industrial equipment. This technology is used to increase productivity and energy efficiency by preventing unexpected downtime and faulty operation of equipment. This unique and patented technology received Grand Technology Award of TUBITAK-TUSIAD-TTGV, 40 Best Product Award by Control Engineering Magazine, USA, and the Innovation award by the Institution of Engineering and Technology, UK. GE became a shareholder of Artesis in July 2010 and started worldwide marketing and sale of Artesis products under GE brand name of AnomAlert.
