Biography

Dr. Elshahat is an associate professor of finance at the American University in Cairo. He previously assumed faculty positions at school of accounting, Florida International University (5th in FT Ranking MSF), Foster college of Business, Bradley University (4th in Midwest Regional MBA). He taught various accounting and finance courses at the undergraduate, graduate, and executive level. Dr. Elshahat received a number of awards including ‘Most Dedicated Professor’ by Beta Alpha Psi. Dr. Elshahat has diverse corporate experience (consulting, and managerial training) for international firms including Caterpillar, Afni, Clinmedex, and Illinois Port district. He is certified Financial Manager (Institute of Management Accounting since 2002), and earned his Ph.D. from Florida International University in Finance. Dr. Elshahat is well published researcher in multiple international journals including Journal of Economics and Business, and he is serving on the editorial board of a number of international journals including the Econometrics Review and Austin Journal of Accounting, Audit and Finance, as well as serving as reviewer for journals including Journal of Economic Behavior & Organization, the International Journal of Banking & Finance, and the Quarterly Journal of Finance & Accounting. His research interests include market microstructure, portfolio construction, and foreign exchange markets.
