Dr. Ahmed R. El Safty has over 20 years of experience working for think tanks, policy-making institutions, and regional organizations. He also provided technical support and consultation in the area of economic policy management for policy makers in 12 MENA countries, and participated in teaching and training on both academic and executive levels. Dr. El Safty has a Ph.D. degree in International Economics and Finance, as well as a M.Sc. in International Economics and Finance form Brandeis University. He also has a MIA - Economic Policy Management, from Columbia University. Currently, Dr. El Safty is an Associate Professor of Practice in the Department of Economics at the American University in Cairo, as well as the Co-Founder and Managing Director of Delta Research Center. Before that, he held the following positions: The Director of the Economic and Social Studies Department at the Emirates Center for Strategic Studies and Research in Abu Dhabi, UAE. The Chief of Loans and Technical Assistance Division, at the Arab Monetary Fund, Abu Dhabi, UAE. Senior Economist - Money, Banking and Financial Markets Division, at the Central Bank of Egypt, Cairo, Egypt. Dr. El Safty authored and co-authored a number of papers, articles, studies, reports, and books, covering the areas of business cycles, energy, financial sector reforms and macroeconomic reforms in general. Dr. El Safty provided consultations in the areas of macroeconomic policy management for a number of MENA countries, including: Bahrain, Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, Djibouti, Oman, Morocco, Mauritania, Yemen, Sudan, and Egypt.
