Biography

Abdulhamit Kırmızı teaches Historiography; Late Ottoman History; Formations of Modern Turkey; Auto/Biography; Psychology, History and Memory After visiting primary, middle and high schools in Marl, Germany and Zonguldak, he studied Public Administration at the Faculty of Political Sciences of Ankara University, received his MA degree from the History Department of Hacettepe University and his PhD from the History program at BoÄŸaziçi University. He was Visiting Fellow at SOAS, University of London in 2009, with a postdoctoral scholarship from the The British Academy AHRC/ESRC. His publications include four books and articles, mostly on late Ottoman history, its public and provincial administration, and prosopographical and biographical studies. He is very proud of being a founding co-editor of TALID (Türkiye Arastirmalari Literatür Dergisi/Turkish Studies Review). Now he is working on a book titled "Empire of Officials: Non-Muslims in Late Ottoman Bureaucracy".
