Biography

Dr. A-Imam Al-Sammak received a B.Sc. in EE (Riyadh University), M.Sc. in Digital Communications (University of Kent), and a Ph.D. in Communications (Manchester, U.K). He is currently an Associate Professor at the Department of Computer Engineering. Before joining Ahlia University, Dr. A-Imam Al-Sammak was with University of Bahrain where he has been the chairman of the Department of Electrical Engineering, University of Bahrain for about four years (1992-1996). Dr. Al-Sammak has been a Visiting Research Professor and Visiting Scholar at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, University of Victoria, Canada, during summers of 2004, 2001, and 1998. He was also a Visiting Scientist, Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Purdue University, USA, Summer 2008. He has published 38 Journal and conference papers and holds three patents (two international and one local). He has been a reviewer of International journals (Electronics Letters, Communications letters, IET Wireless Sensor Systems) and Conferences (PACRIM, PIMRC). He is an active member of Bahrain Society of Engineers (BSE) and served as a board member for two years. He is a long standing member of Scholarship committee, BSE and was actively participated in establishing and organizing Conferences such as “Computers in Industry’’ and “Arab Telecom Forum”. Dr. Al-Sammak was Bahrain representative in Engineering Education of Federation of Arab Engineers for over 15 years, and continues to work with the committee as a program reviewer and evaluation team leader. Dr. Al-Sammak is a charted engineer and member of IEE (UK) and BSE (Bahrain).
