Patrick works closely with President Mitch Kronenberg and the Board of Directors to advance the mission of La Jolla Institute. In concert with executive management, he helps develop and implement strategic organizational goals and programs. Technology Development was formed in 2007 to manage intellectual property, and it has since evolved into a significant resource for translating basic research discoveries and supporting institutional growth. Serving as the senior leader for commercialization activities, Patrick is responsible for generating, implementing and driving both innovations and new business opportunities with both industry and the entrepreneur/investment community. He actively contributes to the inventive process and he engages with faculty to help translate ideas and discoveries into tangible technologies.
He has broad and comprehensive scientific and intellectual property expertise from working in the biotech industry for over 20 years. Patrick holds a Juris Doctor and received his undergraduate biology degree from University of San Diego.
