Máire began her career as an athletic therapist and trainer. Whilst in university she completed courses in trigger point release, kinesio® taping, massage, muscle energy technique and myofascial release to name but a few. She went on to complete her Masters in Physiotherapy in Queen Margaret University, Edinburgh. Here she began working with multiple semi-professional rugby clubs to further her experience with sports injuries and rehabilitation. After which she returned to Ireland to work in a private practice specializing in sports injuries and rehabilitation, across both amateur and professional sports. During this time she also worked for Basketball Ireland as their lead physiotherapist. She is an APPI (Australian Physiotherapy and Pilates institute) trained matwork instructor and Balanced Body Pilates reformer and equipment trained. She believes in using the principles of Pilates with both the clinical population and elite athletes as part of her physiotherapy practice. Máire has been working in Singapore for three years and was the clinical manager of a very busy physiotherapy practice before joining the UFit clinic. Here she gained excellent knowledge on functional movement patterns and completed a lot of training in all areas of human movement, as well as continuing her love for Pilates based rehab. Here she also completed training in pre and post natal exercise prescription, pelvic floor dysfunction and rectus diastasis (ab separation) rehab post pardum. Máire is also an avid runner and competes regularly in Singapore, often placing on the podium. Running is her passion and it is her knowledge of the sport that she has been lucky enough to incorporate into her physiotherapy when treating running and sports injuries. She also uses the principles of Pilates clinically when treating runners, and even in herself, and believes this has contributed to her injury-free running career and success.
