Biography

 Dr Kopsidas was born in Athens. He graduated in 2003 from the Medical School of Athens. He commenced his specialty in Ophthalmology at the University of Muenster in Germany where he obtained the title of Doctor of Medicine by Professor Solon Thanos for his research work on the regeneration of retinal ganglion cells. He completed the specialty of Ophthalmology in the University Eye Clinic of the General Hospital G.Gennimatas in Athens. In 2010 he obtained the title of the Fellow of the European Board of Ophthalmology. After receiving his specialty he worked as a clinical and research fellow in the Manchester Royal Eye Hospital in the United Kingdom, where he specialized in diseases of the retina under Professors P. Stanga, G. Black and T. Aslam. One year later he specialized in Ocular Oncology as a clinical fellow at Moorfields Eye Hospital in London and at Barts and London NHS trust under Mandeep Sagoo, where he gained extensive experience in clinical and surgical treatment of intraocular tumors, tumors of the conjunctiva, and retinoblastoma .  In 2014 he returned to Greece where he works as an eye surgeon.   He has publications in peer-reviewed journals and presentations at national and international conferences, some of which have been awarded. His Doctor Thesis had been proposed as candidate for the national award among the top medical Doctor Thesis in Germany. Dr Kopsidas is member of the International Society of Ocular Oncology (ISOO), the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (ESCRS), the  International Society of Refractive Surgery (ISRS), the European Society of Retina (EURETINA) and the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO).
