"Dr. Emad Kowatli, MD. FCCP. FAASM is an intensive care and pulmonology expert who specializes in pulmonary and sleep medicine. He has received certification and licensure from the American Board of Sleep Disorder, Critical Care Medicine, Pulmonology and Internal Medicine. In 1983, he gained his medical degree from Damascus University, Syria. Post graduation, he worked in America where he completed his internal medicine residency at Wright State University, his Critical Care Fellowship at the Chicago Medical School and was awarded his Pulmonary and Sleep Fellowship at University of South Florida. Whilst in America he gained huge experience in chronic ventilation. Before joining the American Hospital Dubai, Dr. Kowatli held numerous respected positions for almost 12 years in U.S. hospitals. Namely, Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine at West Virginia College of Osteopathic Medicine, Director of Medical Ethics Committee and Director of intensive Care Unit at the Logan Regional Medical Center, West Virginia, and recognized as a good teacher to medical residents and students alike. Additionally, he held the position of the Regent of the American College of Chest Physicians, UAE. He also served as a speaker and consultant to the majority of American pharmaceutical companies. Dr. Kowatli is a pioneer concerning sleep disorder medicine and was the first board certified sleep specialist in the UAE. He is also responsible for creating the first sleep laboratory in the UAE and in the majority of hospitals he has worked in. Additionally, he performs pioneering procedures such as EBUS and ultrasound guided probe bronchoscopy to diagnose lung nodules as well as using cryobiopsy to avoid surgery and diagnose lung fibrosis. We are the only center in the UAE offering these procedures. Based on his wealth of experience, Dr. Kowatli has conducted vast numbers of clinical lectures in the UAE regarding pulmonology, critical care and sleep medicine."
