Biography

r. Murphy received his undergraduate degree from Fordham University and his medical degree from The University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. He completed a residency at North Carolina Baptist Hospital and a fellowship at Bowman Gray School of Medicine of Wake Forest University. He has over 30 years of experience in private specialty practice. He is board certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology by the American Board of Internal Medicine. Affiliations include the American College of Gastroenterology, the American Gastroenterological Association, the Forsyth-Stokes-Davie Medical Society, the North Carolina Society of Gastroenterology, the American College of Physicians and the American Medical Association. He was elected to the Membership-Phi Beta Kappa. Dr. Murphy is currently the vice chairman of the Novant Medical Group Board, a trustee of the Novant Health Board, a member of the Colon Cancer Subcommittee (Forsyth Regional Cancer Center), and is on the Clinical Advisory Board for OpenBiome. He participates in investigator sponsored research in colorectal cancer screening and fecal microbiota transplantation, and is published in these areas. He has also served as president of medical staff of Forsyth Medical Center.
