Biography

Björn Vennström (born 1948) is a Swedish molecular biologist. He received his Ph.D. in 1978 at Uppsala University with a thesis on RNA and in 1993, was appointed Professor of Developmental Biology at the Karolinska Institute.

Research Intrest

Björn Vennström research focuses on how thyroid hormone regulates developmental and metabolic processes. By using knock out mice deficient thyroid hormone receptor TRalpha1, TRbeta, or both TRs, we have identified the major roles for TRalpha-1 and TRbeta in different tissues.
