Biography

Abier Abdelnaby, M.D., is an Associate Professor in the Department of Surgery at UT Southwestern. She is board certified in general surgery as well as colon and rectal surgery. After receiving her undergraduate degree at Cornell University, Dr. Abdelnaby earned her medical degree at Howard University College of Medicine. She completed a residency in general surgery at Howard University Hospital and then received advanced training in colon and rectal surgery through a fellowship at the University of Southern California, Los Angeles. In addition to caring for patients, Dr. Abdelnaby is involved in clinical research and the training of medical students, residents, and fellows. She is Program Director of UT Southwestern’s Global Health Surgery Fellowship. Dr. Abdelnaby is a member of the American College of Surgeons, the American Association of Women Surgeons, the American Medical Association, Physicians for Peace, and the North American Society for the Study of Personality Disorders, among other professional organizations.
