Biography

Dr. Yvonne Chu is an Associate Professor of Ophthalmology at the Cullen Eye Institute and Baylor College of Medicine. She graduated with honors (Magna Cum Laude) and obtained B.A. in Biology from Texas A&M University in College Station and later completed B.A. degree in Spanish from The University of Texas in Austin. In 1995, Dr. Chu started medical school at Baylor College of Medicine and went on to complete Ophthalmology Residency at Baylor College of Medicine. In July 2003, Dr. Chu joined the Baylor Faculty and continued her studies at Rice University, Jesse Jones Graduate School of Business graduating in May 2005 with Master of Business Administration degree. She practiced comprehensive ophthalmology for 7 years prior to returning for sub-specialty training in Glaucoma. In July 2011, Dr. Chu completed a one year fellowship in Glaucoma at the Devers Eye Institute and Casey Eye Institute of Oregon Health & Science University in Portland, Oregon. Dr. Chu has served as the Chief of Ophthalmology Service for Ben Taub Hospital since joining the faculty in 2003 and in July 2014, she was promoted to Assistant Dean of Affiliated Affairs at Harris Health for Baylor College of Medicine. She has special interest in teaching and has been recognized with the Dan B. Jones Teaching Award for excellence in resident education. Research Intrest

Dr. Chu’s clinical interests include medical and surgical treatment for glaucoma in adults, and cataract surgery combined with glaucoma interventions including minimally invasive glaucoma surgery such as iStent.
