Dr. Annesley received his Ph.D. in Biochemstry from Rice University in 1979. Following additional post-doctoral training in Clinical Chemistry at the Mayo Clinic from 1979-1981, he joined the faculty at the University of Michigan. Dr. Annesley is a Diplomate of the American Board of Clinical Chemistry. His research focuses on immunosuppressive drug monitoring and analytical principles of mass spectrometry. In 1981 he received the Young Investigator's Award of the Academy of Clinical Laboratory Physicians and Scientists, in 1987 the prestigious Young Investigator's Award of the American Association for Clinical Chemistry, and in 2007 the award for Outstanding Contributions to Clinical Mass Spectrometry. Dr. Annesley has been a member of the Board of Editors of multiple journals, and currently is the Deputy Editor for the journal Clinical Chemistry. He is well-known for his 14-part educational series entitled "The Clinical Chemistry Guide to Scentific Writing", which has been translated into numerous languages.
