Dr. Bakale received his BSc in Chemistry and BSc in Biology at Hope College and a Ph.D. in Synthetic Organic Chemistry from Wayne State University. He has co-authored sixty patents and publications and is an inventor on fifty six patent applications. Dr. Bakale is a member and active participant in numerous professional societies, a member of the Horst Witzel Award committee, and scientific editorial board member of the America Chemical Society Journal – Organic Process Research & Development.
 Previously he has held leadership and management positions in the Discovery & Product Development division .
