Dr. Richard D. Schubert, MD is one of the best hip and knee joint replacement surgeons in his field. Having performed thousands of hip and knee joint replacements, Dr. Schubert is an expert in lower extremity total joint replacement. Dr. Schubert has also been trained and certified in Birmingham Resurfacing Arthroplasty since 2006. He is also a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons and has presented numerous papers on joint replacement surgery. A South Texas native, Richard D. Schubert, MD, joined the Carrell Clinic™ in 1985. He graduated from the University of Texas at Austin, Phi Beta Kappa. In 1975, he came to Dallas to attend the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School at Dallas where he graduated in 1979. He completed an orthopedic residency at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Dallas. Following that training, he was awarded a fellowship in lower extremity total joint replacement at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland under David Hungerford, MD. Dr. Schubert is a Clinical Associate Professor of Orthopedics at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School at Dallas. He is also on the teaching staff at Baylor University Medical Center. Dr. Schubert is married with three children. In his free time he enjoys golf and fly-fishing.
