Dr. Mahajan earned a Ph.D. in biochemistry from University of Poona, India and gained post-doctoral training at University of Kansas Medical Center and University of South Carolina. With 30 years of research/teaching experience in academia and industry, Dr. Mahajan has 29 peer-reviewed publications and 31 issued US patents. Dr. Mahajan current research focus is on understanding epigenetic mechanisms of drug action using biochemical, genomic and proteomic tools. In the last five years, have secured approximately $625,000 of funding support. Dr. Mahajan teaches biochemistry/biotechnology and pharmacogenomics. Dr. Mahajan have passion for community service, especially for enhancing science education, public health and diversity; experience as Member/Director of several civic/non-profit and scientific organizations. Currently Dr. Mahajan is serving as Chair of Pharmacogenomics Focus Group, American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists. Dr. Mahajan is member of American Association for Advancement of Science, American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy, Genetics Society of America, and American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology.
