Biography

Dr. Roeder has worked at the Purina Animal Nutrition Center for 12 years. She’s a member of the Companion Animal team and serves as a nutritionist for the Private Label and Organic Pride feed businesses for numerous species, including poultry, rabbits, goats, small animals, horses and fish.She also designs products for the natural fertilizer business. Dr. Roeder’s technical expertise and interest includes: Ensuring that every product meets the nutritional requirements of the animal for which it was designed. “I enjoy being a multi-species nutritionist with the ability to help a wide variety of animal owners,” says Roeder. Dr. Roeder earned a bachelor’s degree in animal science and master’s degree in animal nutrition from Washington State University. She earned a Ph.D. in animal physiology from the University of Idaho, focusing on the effects of exercise on growth hormone-induced equine metabolic syndrome, a condition similar to early-stage diabetes in people. Dr. Roeder lives in northwest Arkansas where, in her words, she’s “currently owned by” two horses, two dogs, one cat, five Angus cows, and two very eccentric quail.
