Biography

 Mr. Michel Komajda, M.D., FESC serves as a Professor of Cardiology in the Department of Cardiology at University Pierre et Marie Curie and Pitie Salpetriere Hospital in France. Dr. Komajda serves as a Team Leader of INSERM Research Unit 621 "Genetique, Physiopathologie et Pharmacologie du Remodelage Cardiovasculaire". In service of the European Society of Cardiology (ESC), he served as Vice President of Associations, Working Groups, Councils from 2006 to 2008. He served as Chairman of the ESC's Heart Failure working group from 2001 to 2002. He served as Member of Scientific Advisory Board of Nile Therapeutics, Inc. He serves as Member of Clinical Advisory Board at Rheoscience A/S. He serves as Member of the writing committee for the ESC's "Chronic Heart Failure Guidelines" from 2001 to 2005. He served as Board Member of the French Society of Cardiology from 1991 to 2006, and served as President from 2002 to 2003. Dr. Komajda has been on the steering committee for many major cardiovascular trials through out his career; most recently CARMEN, COMET, I-PRESERVE, HEAAL, SHIFT, and RECORD. He has also published numerous articles that have contributed to the advancement of the treatment of heart failure. He has published numerous manuscripts in peer-reviewed journals and reviews and book chapters. He has received the awards for his distinguished contribution in the study of heart failure. Prof. Komajda serves currently as Co-Chair of the extensive clinical studies "Euro Heart Failure Survey I" and as an Executive Committee Member for "Euro Heart Failure Survey II." .
