Biography

 After completing his orthopaedic surgery residency at the University of Utah Medical Center, followed by a year of fellowship training in pediatric orthopaedics at the Shriners Hospital in Greenville, South Carolina, Michael Aiona, M.D., worked at the Shriners Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky, for two years. Since 1986, he has worked at Shriners Hospitals for Children — Portland and now serves as chief of staff. He is the director of the motion analysis center and clinical research. His clinical expertise is in managing children with CP and myelodyspasia, limb length inequality, club feet, lower extremity deformities and gait abnormalities. Dr. Aiona serves on the editorial board of Gait and Posture, DMCN, and JBJS and serves on several committees within the AACPDM and POSNA.  He has presented numerous lectures and abstracts nationally and internationally and is widely published.
