Biography

Dr Martin Buckley (M.B. B.Ch. B.A.O. (Hons.), M.R.C.P.I., F.R.C.P.I.) is a Consultant Gastroenterologist/Physician at Mercy University Hospital (MUH) and Senior Lecturer in Clinical Medicine at University College Cork. At MUH he is Director of the GI Physiology Laboratory and the Clinical Lead Endoscopy at the Centre for Gastroenterology. He has previously lectured in medicine/gastroenterology at Meath and Adelaide Hospital/Trinity College, Dublin. He held a Therapeutic Endoscopy Fellowship at Centre Hopitalier Universitaire de Nice from 1996-1998. He was Consultant Gastroenterologist and Director of Endoscopy at Adelaide & Meath University Hospital, Dublin from 2004 -2008 before joining MUH. He has published over 50 peer-reviewed articles and 20 book chapters. His research interests include therapeutic endoscopy, H pylori related diseases, premalignant lesions of the GI tract, functional GI physiology and quality of care in GI disease management.
