The Department of Pathology and Molecular Pathology - Faculty of Medicine of the University of Coimbra - FMUC - was inaugurated in 1956 and the Pathology course began in 1863. Since 2003, the Service of Pathological Anatomy and Molecular Pathology is under the direction of Profª. Doctor Lina Carvalho. In IAP - PM the teaching of Pathological Anatomy to Students of Medicine and Dental Medicine of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Coimbra is assured, as well as scientific support and orientation of Master and Doctoral Thesis, with or without design of the Research Projects. At the same time, it maintains the Community Service in the scope of Histopathology, Cytopathology and Molecular Pathology. Since 2003, scientific research work has been carried out in areas other than Pathological Anatomy and with application of Molecular Pathology, particularly related to Pulmonary Pathology and Experimental Pathology, recognized with national and international awards.

 Head and Neck Pathology, Bronchial Pulmonary diseases/ Carcinoma, Lymphomas, Heart Pathology, Digestive Tract Pathology, Experimental Pathology and Molecular Pathology
