Larisa Poluektova has completed her Ph.D. at Latvian Medical Academy and Latvian Center of Hepatology, Riga, Latvia in 1988. At UNMC, beginning in immune studies, her work soon evolved to center on the effects of HIV on the brain and treatment options. She has published more than 30 papers in reputed journals. Now she is expanding the previous experience to modeling and treatment of HCV/HIV co-infection.
