Lara graduated from Auckland Medical School and prior to commencing General Practice she worked in Auckland and Sydney in a number of Surgical Specialties and Emergency Medicine. She became a Member of the Royal NZ College of General Practitioners and started working at the Takapuna Skin Institute in 2015.She also works as a General Practitioner in Central Auckland, with a special interest in Dermatology, after completing a Dermatology Diploma. She has completed other courses in Dermoscopy and Skin Cancer Medicine.
