Biography

KARAMYAN Aram Ashotovich graduated from the medical faculty of the Yerevan Medical Institute in 1979. In 1980-1983 he worked as an ophthalmologist in the eye clinic of the city of Yerevan. In 1983 he entered the post-graduate course of the 1st Moscow Medical Institute named after I.M. Sechenov, who graduated in 1986. In 1986 he defended his thesis on "Experimental and clinical study of technical options for keratofakia and epikeratophakia" - these are the operations, the development of which subsequently led to the appearance of laser correction of vision using the Lasik method. Several patents have been received on this topic. In 1993 he defended his doctoral dissertation on the topic "Multifocal intraocular lenses, modern aspects of aphakia correction". Since 1990 he worked at the MNTK "Eye Microsurgery" named after Fedorov. From 2002 to the present time, the chief researcher at the Institute of Eye Diseases of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences and heads the refractive unit at the Center for Restoration of Vision.
