Dr. Standaert also supports a variety of other software tools commonly used by feed salespeople in the course of their day to day work. In addition, Dr. Standaert provides technical expertise and advice to sales and Purina customers regarding dairy nutrition issues. "Innovation is going to be a key component in mankind’s effort to feed the world. That includes innovation in nutritional concepts and products, agricultural production practices and techniques, and also the technology tools we will use at every step along the way,” says Dr. Standaert. Dr. Standaert’s research expertise and interest includes: Nutrition-reproductive-immune system interactions, Bypass protein techniques to improve efficiency of protein utilization in ruminants, Improving the use and effectiveness of dairy production records systems. “I have been able to contribute to our salespeople’s effort to improve their customers profitability by helping them understand, using modern software technology, how to develop high quality and efficient livestock diets. In addition, with the help and feedback of many of our dairy technical consultants, I authored an easy to use dairy records analysis program which can help to identify areas of strength and areas in need of improvement in modern dairy production systems,” says Dr. Standaert. A current member of the American Dairy Science Association, Dr. Standaert earned his Ph.D. and bachelor’s degrees in animal science from Washington State University. He also holds a master’s degree in dairy science from Michigan State University. Dr. Standaert has been with Purina Animal Nutrition since 1990.
