Dr. Yasmin Sajjad completed her Bachelor in Medicine and Surgery (MBBS) in 1984 from Khyber Medical School Peshawar, Pakistan. She commenced her Specialist training in Obstetrics and Gynecology in 1995 in the Mersey Deanery region of UK. She completed her core specialist training in Obstetrics and Gynecology and was awarded the MRCOG by the Royal college of Obstetricians and Gynecologist (RCOG) UK in 2004. Subsequently, she went to acquire an advanced subspecialist training in Reproductive Medicine and Surgery. She completed two years of research in assisted conception (IVF) in Hewitt Centre Liverpool Women's Hospital, UK followed by subspecialty training in Reproductive Medicine and Surgery in the same department for three years. She was awarded the Certificate of completion of training (CCT) followed by the Certificate of completion of sub-specialist training (CCST) in Reproductive medicine & surgery in 2007 by the General Medical Council and Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, London respectively. The research in the field of assisted conception and Andrology culminated in the submission of doctoral thesis and was awarded an MD from the University Of Liverpool, UK in 2008. Five years of intense sub-specialist training helped her gain an insight and expertise into assisted conception (IVF/ICSI), Andrology (specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases of male reproductive organs, and sperm problems), Endometriosis, Pediatric & Adolescent Gynecology and Menstrual Dysfunction. She was appointed in 2007 as Consultant Gynecologist and sub specialist in reproductive medicine and surgery and lead for male fertility and sperm donation services in Central Manchester University Hospitals, NHS Foundation Trust in Manchester UK, which is one of the largest tertiary referral IVF center in UK and the foremost Reproductive Medicine provider in North West England. In 2012 she became the Medical Director of the same department and served this post for 3 years. She is also a Director of Cheshire Fertility Center in UK. Dr Sajjad has more than 15 years of expertise in the field of Reproductive Medicine and in particular Assisted Conception and Andrology. Other than managing all female fertility and early pregnancy problems, she is one of the very few Andrologist who has dual accreditation of assisted conception and Andrology. Her key areas of expertise include surgical sperm retrieval, as well as independent male Andrology and reproductive endocrinology. She manages all aspects of male fertility problems including obstructive and non-obstructive azoospermias, and any fertility problems incurred by men after testicular cancer and post chemotherapy and radiotherapy. Other than assisted conception interests, Dr. Yasmin Sajjad has expertise in gynecological ultrasound scan and management of early pregnancy problems, including recurrent miscarriages. She has also clinical interests in pelvic pain, menstrual disorders, gynecological endocrinology including PCOS and hysteroscopic management of intrauterine abnormalities (including fibroids, septa and severe adhesions like in Asherman's Syndrome). She maintains specialist clinical and research interests in Reproductive Medicine and Andrology and her doctoral thesis was also in male fertility, looking at androgen receptor distribution and function in first trimester male reproductive organs. She has published widely on many aspects of gynecology and reproductive medicine, and has presented as well as chaired many sessions both nationally and internationally on various aspects of her specialty. She has been involved in many systematic reviews and randomized controlled trials and is currently involved in many ongoing research projects focusing on subclinical hypothyroidism in infertility, ovarian reserve, ovarian stimulation, repeated IVF failures and mechanisms of embryo implantation. She has many international publications of great repute to her credit and has written several textbook chapters and edited journals' supplements. She is an ad-hoc reviewer for many international scientific journals and publishers. She is a recognized influential member of many patients' organization, scientific societies, media and pharmaceutical companies. In recognition of her work Dr Yasmin Sajjad was awarded the UK Fusion Public Service Award in 2015. She was given the fellowship (FRCOG) from the RCOG London in 2016. Dr. Yasmin Sajjad is a member and fellow of the RCOG, and an associate member of many international learned societies, including the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology (ESHRE), the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM), the British Fertility Society (BFS) and European Andrology association (EAA). Dr. Yasmin Sajjad is chair of the RCOG Pakistan Liaison group and is actively involved in promoting gynecology education and training opportunities in the UK and abroad. She is a preceptor for the BFS special skill modules in Pelvic Ultrasound, Embryo Transfer, Management of male fertility, Infertile Couple and Assisted Conception. Dr Sajjad has built up a broad professional network over the years and maintains excellent working relationships with numerous professionals in this and allied fields Other than her clinical and academic interest, Dr. Yasmin Sajjad has passion for teaching and training. She is regular organizer of many national and international courses and meetings in the field of gynecology, infertility and assisted conception. Dr Sajjad is currently the MRCOG part 2 and part 3 examiner for the RCOG London and was the MRCOG part 2-course convener for the same organization for three years.
