Doctor Soedarso is one of the fighters in West Kalimantan. He was born on November 29, 1906 in the city of Pacitan, East Java. His father was an assistant wedana named Atmosoebroto. In his family Soedarso is the sixth child of eleven brothers.Little Soedarso completed his primary school at the Europesche Legere School (ELS) in Madiun. Then he enrolled at School Tot Opleiding Van Indische Artsen (STOVIA) in Jakarta. During his time as a student, he was active as a member of the national student youth movement called Jong Java. He sat as editorial staff of the Jong Java newspaper for five years (1925 - 1930), until Jong Java along with other youth organizations such as Jong Sumatera, Jong Ambon, Jong Minahasa merged into Indonesia Muda. In 1931, he successfully completed his studies at STOVIA Jakarta and entitled to a doctor's degree. After graduating from STOVIA, he was immediately appointed as a colonial government doctor at Centrale Burgerlijke Ziekem Inrichtng (CBZ) or Government General Hospital in Semarang. In March 1932, he moved from Semarang to the Span on Selayar Island, South Sulawesi. After four years on the island of Selayar, in February 1936, he moved again to CBZ Surabaya. Two years later or exactly in February 1938, doctor Soedarso transferred his duties from Surabaya to West Kalimantan.
