Dr. Benavides is a diplomat of the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation as well as The American Board of Sports Medicine, and The American Board of Pain Medicine. Dr. Benavides D.O. attended the University of North Texas Science Center as well as the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine and graduated in 2001. Dr. Benavides completed his residency at Southwestern Medical Center in 2005.The methodology Dr. Benavides uses provides a comprehensive approach in the treatment of all of his patients. He performs electro-diagnostic testing, fluoroscopic-guided lumbar, thoracic, and cervical spinal injections to treats both acute and chronic musculoskeletal injuries, and chronic pain management. He has successfully introduced the use of ultrasound-guided musculoskeletal injections to the practice, thus improving procedure outcomes while avoiding exposure risks of radiation. He also has trained in PRP (Plasma Rich Platlet), performs Kphoplasty, and Spinal Cord Stim placements.
Dr. Benavides’ areas of interest and expertise include interventional spine procedures, Sports Medicine, Pain Management. Dr. Benavides is certified to treat opioid dependence with the use of Suboxone. Dr. Benavides also is a RockDoc provider and treats performers in town at the local venues.
