"Dr. Qassim graduated from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland in 1998. In 2002, He obtained MRCS diploma from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow. He started training in Neurosurgery in 2002, and completed his research project and was awarded a Master's degree in Neurosciences from University of London in 2005. Thereafter, he joined the higher surgical training programme and successfully achieved the intercollegiate Fellowship of the Royal College FRCS(Neurosurgery) in 2009, and was awarded the Certificate of Completion of Higher Surgical Training in 2011. Soon thereafter, he is working as a consultant Neurosurgeon, has performed over two thousands procedures. Dr. Qassim has experience in microscopic vascular neurosurgery (aneurysm, arteriovenous malformation AVM, fistula), cerebral haemorrhage (bleeding), skull base, tumours of the brain and spinal cord, hydrocephalus, VP shunt, endoscopic third ventriculostomy ETV, lumbar and cervical disc surgery, surgery of narrow spinal canal (stenosis), pituitary gland (adenoma) surgery, surgical and non-surgical management of trigeminal neuralgia, paediatric neurosurgery and peripheral nerve (Carpel Tunnel) surgery . He also has extensive experience in trauma of the nervous system. Dr. Qassim was the recipient of Dubai Government Excellence Award in 2012. He was awarded post-graduate certificate in Medical Education from Keele University in UK in 2013. Dr. Qassim is a member of many international societies such as American Association of Neurological Surgeons. He attends international meetings to keep abreast of developments in the field of Neurosurgery, such as the World Federation of Neurosurgical Societies, European Society of Paediatric Neurosurgery conference and the Leksell Gamma Knife Society meeting. Dr. Qassim is the general secretary of the Emirates Society of Neurological Surgeons, and currently the head of Department of Neurosurgery in Rashid Hospital in Dubai, and a member of the scientific committee for Neurosurgery training for the Arab Board."
