He received his Ph.D. in the institute of molecular microbiology and biotechnology from Westfaelische Wilhelms-University of Muenster, Germany. He did his postdoctoral training at institute of genetic, biochemistry and microbiology of University of Nuerberg-Erlangeng, Germany, and at McLaughlin Research Institute for Biomedical Science Great Falls, Montana. His area of expertise is cellular and molecular biology, basic immunology and inflammation, animal modeling, respiratory bacterial infections. His main research interests are pulmonary infectious disease-Mycobacterium tuberculosis (MTB) and Nontuberculosis mycobacteria (NTM), host- pathogen interaction, gene regulation and signal transduction, drug discovery against mycobacteria, and protein-protein (DNA/RNA) interaction.
