He attended the University of Maine at Orono and completed graduate work at Auburn University in Alabama. His veterinary training was at Tufts University in Boston, Massachusetts, where he was first in his graduating class in 1983. Returning to Maine, Dr. Kinney had a mixed animal practice for 13 years before concentrating on small pets and household exotics. He has a special interest in shelter medicine and has served on the board of the Animal Refuge League in Westbrook for 15 years. He has also worked closely with the Greater Androscoggin Humane Society in Lewiston for the last 25 years. A strong advocate for spaying and neutering, Dr. Kinney has performed over 2,500 spays and neuters in a single year!
