Biography

In common with many students studying at Kingston, I was the first person in my family to go to university. I studied Natural Sciences at Cambridge University, specialising in biochemistry during the final year of my degree. I then completed a Postgraduate Certificate in Education in secondary science teaching at King's College London. I undertook a PhD at the Royal Postgraduate Medical School, University of London, working on the biochemical disturbances related to serotonergic neurotransmission that link migraine, depression and anxiety. Afterwards, the focus of my postdoctoral research has been on the ways in which dietary items interact pharmacologically with enzymes and receptors that may play a role in migraine pathogenesis. I am currently the Course Director for the BSc (Hons) Pharmacology degree at Kingston.
