Dr. H. Duncan Dorris, Jr. was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia. He attended the University of Georgia for his undergraduate studies where he majored in Microbiology. While at the Medical College of Georgia, Dr. Dorris became interested in the specialty of Dermatology. After completing two years of an Internal Medicine residency at the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Memphis, he returned to the Medical College of Georgia for an additional three years of Dermatology training. Completing that program in June 1995, Dr. Dorris joined Dermatology Associates of Asheville in 1995. In January 2006, he opened Forest Dermatology. Dr. Dorris is a board certified Dermatologist and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology. He is also a member of the North Carolina Dermatology Association and the Christian Medical and Dental Association. He is on the staff of Mission Hospital in Asheville. Dr. Dorris is also an adjunct instructor with the UNC Asheville School of Medicine. Additionally, he participates as a preceptor for several different Physician Assistant programs and regularly sponsors local students from the MAHEC Minority Mentoring Program. Dr. Dorris and his wife, Mary, have lived in Asheville since 1995. They have five grown children and are active members of Arden Presbyterian Church.
