Biography

 Dr. Frank C. Helfrich was born and raised in Evansville, Indiana and is one of 11 children. Dr. Helfrich graduated from Purdue University in 1964 and served in the Vietnam War. In 1972, Dr. Helfrich graduated from Veterinary School at Michigan State University. Upon graduation, he was one of two students in his class to receive the top clinician award. After graduation, Dr. Helfrich accepted a one-year position on the faculty of Michigan State University School of Veterinary Medicine as an instructor clinician. In 1973, Dr. Helfrich and his family moved to Fort Wayne, Indiana, and purchased property at the existing location to begin serving the veterinary needs of the people in Southwest Allen County. During this time, Dr. Helfrich also worked part time for Dr. Eber Allen as a small animal clinician. Dr. Helfrich married his wife, Gloria in 1971. He and Gloria have three daughters - Rachael, Nicole and Ericka - who each have children of their own. Dr. Helfrich's grandchildren are all the 'apple of his eyes.' In his spare time, Dr. Helfrich enjoys spending time with his grandchildren, raising cattle on his hobby farm and volunteering his time at St. Michael Lutheran Church, where he served as congressional President for nine years and has also served in the other leadership roles. Dr. Helfrich enjoys visiting elementary schools and giving hospital tours to young children to educate them about his profession. Dr. Helfrich's most valued possessions are his faith in Christ, his wife and family, and a profession where he has the best of both worlds - working with pets and their owners. Dr. Helfrich loves his job!
