Dr. F. M. Badiuddin, MBBS, FCRS (UK) FICS, is a surgeon and a medical entrepreneur. His career as a surgeon started in Bangalore, India in 1982. He then trained in minimally invasive surgery at the United Kingdom and Ireland and returned to Dubai to set up his practice in 2001 and continues to hold a successful practice in Minimally Invasive Laparoscopic and Bariatric Surgery. His interest in genetics was the stimulus to launch his career as a medical entrepreneur. Recognizing a gap in the healthcare sector in the areas of medical diagnostics, he founded his first venture, Eastern Biotech and Life Sciences, to offer some of the most advanced medical diagnostic products on an outsourcing platform. This small niche business was fostered by him to grow over the last 8 years within the UAE and now has a presence in 4 other countries. It now has a laboratory of its own and carries out a whole range of medical tests.
