· Prior to entering private practice, he was the Deputy Head of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, Changi General Hospital and Senior Consultant at the Changi Sports Medicine Centre. · Dr Chan is also a Clinical Lecturer of the Faculty of Medicine, National University of Singapore and Visiting Senior Lecturer at the Nanyang Technological University, Master of Science (Biomedical Engineering). He was the Course Director of the Shoulder and Wrist workshop at the 2004 Annual Scientific Meeting and Chairman of the Arthroscopic shoulder and elbow course at the 2002 Asia Pacific Orthopaedic Society Medicine meeting. · Dr Chan pioneered the use of arthroscopy in treating scapulothoracic pain in Singapore and specialises in minimally invasive upper limb procedures, which minimises post-operative pain, morbidity and hospital stay. He has a personal series of more than 500 arthroscopic shoulder procedures and these include arthroscopic shoulder stabilization, subacromial decompression, rotator cuff repair, labral repair, capsulotomy for frozen shoulders and lateral clavicle resection. His other clinical specialties include fractures/nonunion clavicle, fracture-dislocations around the shoulder joint, elbow and wrist, shoulder replacement surgery, treatment of complex fractures of the distal radius, tennis elbow surgery and nerve entrapment release. He also performs arthroscopic and open procedures for sports and degenerative conditions of the knee.
