Dr. David Bumpass is an orthopaedic spine surgeon providing care at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) and Arkansas Children’s Hospital (ACH). He graduated summa cum laude from Furman University with an undergraduate degree in biology, and then studied health policy and economics at the University of Toronto as a Fulbright scholar. Dr. Bumpass graduated with honors from the University of Virginia School of Medicine in 2008, after which he completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at Washington University in St. Louis. He continued his training as a spine surgery fellow at Washington University, completing an additional complex spine deformity fellowship under the mentorship of Dr. Lawrence Lenke, one of the world’s foremost spine surgeons. During his training, Dr. Bumpass received several prestigious research grants, as well as the Resident Teaching Award from Washington University. Dr. Bumpass provides surgical and nonsurgical treatment for a wide variety of spinal conditions, including cervical and lumbar problems as well as spine tumors. His training in spinal deformities has given him unique experience in treating scoliosis, congenital deformities, and other complex spinal conditions.
