A pulmonologist, Dr. Cho’s main clinical interest is critical care medicine. His clinical research is focused on how to manage acute respiratory distress syndrome and hospital-acquired infection in the Intensive Care Unit. He introduced and well organized an extracorporeal membrane oxygenation system for severe respiratory failure and co-worked with a lung and/or heart transplantation team for proper perioperative ICU care. His translational research group also focuses on acute lung injury, especially ventilator-induced lung injury with the molecular imaging system and pulmonary function testing system for small animals. He graduated from SNU College of Medicine and SNU Graduate School of Public Health. At present, he actively practices and conducts research in the fields of critical care medicine and interventional bronchoscopy.
