Biography

PhD in Social Psychology; assistant professor at Social, Work and Organizational Psychology Unit, Department of Psychology, Institute for Population and Human Studies – Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (IPHS-BAS); lecturer at the European Polytechnical University, Pernik, Bulgaria. Research interests in the field of: European diversity, integration and public sphere; interethnic relations, minority and gender studies; social representations of aggression and violence; media communications and media reporting patterns in the EU; psychosocial and virtual identity; happiness, life-satisfaction and well-being; drug use, abuse and addictions. Bakalova has participated as assistant team leader, consultant, researcher or project & training coordinator in 5 large integrated international and cross-border cooperation projects and 7 national-scale research projects (funded by EC 6th FP, EC PHARE, CBC and OP Programmes, World Bank, etc.), as 5 of the projects were focused on interethnic relations and minority issues.
